Indications
Thiavin Sachet is used for:
Trigeminal neuralgia, optic neuritis, lumbago sciatica, peripheral neuritis. Skin & nervous system, Neuritis of pregnancy, Fertility
Adult Dose
Oral
Adult: 1-2 tablet daily or divided doses.
Parenteral
Adult: 1 ampoule (2 ml) given via SC, IM or IV routes daily or can be given 1 ampoule 2-3 times a week..

Contra Indications
Contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. Patients receiving levodopa.
Precautions
Drug interaction with levodopa.
Pregnancy-Lactation
Interactions
Pyridoxine: Isoniazid, penicillamine and oral contraceptives may result in greater requirement in pyridoxine dose. Reduces the effects of levodopa, phenobarbitone, altretamine and phenytoin.
Riboflavin: Rate and extent of absorption may be affected by propantheline bromide.
Side Effects
Side effects of Pyridoxine Hydrochloride + Riboflavin + Vitamin B1 :
Generally well tolerated.
Mode of Action
Pyridoxine is a water-soluble vitamin which functions in the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. It is essential in Hb formation and GABA synthesis within the CNS. It also aids in the release of glycogen stored in the liver and muscles.
Riboflavin (vitamin B2) is required for energy utilisation from food. It is essential for normal tissue respiration. It is also necessary for the activation of pyridoxine and conversion of tryptophan to nicotinic acid.
Vitamin B1 forms thiamine pyrophosphate by combining with adenosine triphosphate; essential coenzyme in carbohydrate metabolism.
