Indications
Mederma Gel is used for:
Relief of dry skin associated w/, contact dermatitis, senile pruritus, atopic dermatitis, ichthyosis & related dry skin conditions.
Adult Dose
Bar
Using very little water, make a rich lather, massage & cleanse affected areas. Use as often as required.
Emollient
Add to bath or apply to wet skin. Bath: 1-3 capful to 8 inch bath water, soak for 10-20 min.
Direct to skin: Wet the skin & rub in a small quantity of emollient. Rinse & pat dry.
Cream
On a day to day basis, it is recommended to apply an emollient cream at least 3 to 4 times a day.
Add a bath emollient to the water to help prevent the skin from drying out. After bathing, apply an emollient cream to all areas of the skin to lock in the moisture
Apply an emollient cream about 20 minutes before bedtime to allow it to soak in to the skin
Child Dose
Infant bath: ½-2 capful to a wash basin of water. Bathe child in an emollient once a day.
Emollient creams should be used frequently; the weekly recommended amount for children is 250 g per week.

Contra Indications
Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any of the components of the preparation. Acne or greasy skin.
Precautions
This preparation is for external use only.
Avoid contact with the eyes.
This preparation contains cetostearyl alcohol and potassium sorbate which may cause skin irritation.
Discontinue use if skin irritation occurs.

Side effects of Emollient :
Skin irritation in people hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.
Mode of Action
It softens and hydrates skin. It is also a mild cleanser for dry, sensitive skin. It helps reduce dryness and leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth.
