Indications
Eyetrop Eye Drop is used for:
Uveitis, Production of mydriasis
Adult Dose
Ophthalmic
Production of mydriasis
Adult: Instill 1-2 drops of a 0.5% solution 15-20 minutes before examination.
Child Dose
Ophthalmic
Production of mydriasis
Child: Instill 1-2 drops of a 0.5% solution 15-20 minutes before examination.

Contra Indications
Contraindicated in persons showing hypersensitivity to any component of this preparation.
Precautions
Elderly, children, pregnancy. Hypertension, hyperthyroidism, DM, cardiac disorders. To reduce systemic absorption, press on the lacrimal sac for 1-2 minutes following instillation. Do not drive or engage in hazardous activities and protect eyes from bright illumination when pupils are dilated. May fail to produce adequate cycloplegia in children.

Lactation: not known if distributed in milk
Interactions
May antagonise effects of ophthalmic carbachol, pilocarpine, or cholinesterase inhibitors.
Side Effects
Side effects of Tropicamide 0.5% Eye prep :
Transient stinging, blurred vision, photophobia and superficial punctate keratitis have been reported with the use of tropicamide. Increased intraocular pressure has been reported following the use of mydriatics.
Dryness of the mouth, tachycardia, headache, allergic reactions, nausea, vomiting, pallor, central nervous system disturbances and muscle rigidity have been reported with the use of tropicamide.
Mode of Action
Tropicamide is a tertiary amine antimuscarinic which causes relaxation of the sphincter muscle of the iris resulting in pupillary dilatation. It also causes paralysis of the ciliary muscle leading to loss of accommodation.
